What is Website Management?
Website Management is essentially keeping the software that runs your website up-to-date. This can be done by the person who developed/designed your website or another person including yourself the website owner.
Most of the websites I develop use a Content Management System (CMS); the platform I prefer is WordPress, there are 2 versions of WordPress one is wordpress.com the other is wordpress.org, I use wordpress.org as this is the developers platform.
Here’s an article to clarify the differences between wordpress.com and wordpress.org
Websites that are built using WordPress.org are manually installed by creating a database & obtaining WordPress folders & files from wordpress.org these are stored within your hosting package.

Most websites that are developed using WordPress.org will require other software/s called plugins these are a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress website/s.

WordPress.org updates it’s versions now and then, also Plugin developers update their versions too, hence the necessity to keep these 2 components up-to-date so they keep their code compatible and functioning without errors.
If these software/s aren’t updated your website can either become very slow or it can crash. This is the main reason maintenance is essential.
